The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently completed the construction of a riverwall structure that now protects a flood-prone barangay in Gattaran, Cagayan.
In a report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Cagayan First District Engineering Office reported the newly completed 170-meter-long concrete revetment with hexapods in Barangay Casicallan.
“The flood-control project along Cagayan River is a robust defense against strong currents and high-water levels that safeguards nearby community from flooding,” said District Engineer Oscar G. Gumiran.
District Engineer Gumiran said that the completed flood-control structure, funded under the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA), was completed in the amount of P50 million.
“The successful completion of the Casicallan Flood Control Project underscores the government’s dedication to protecting the community and helping improve its residents’ lives,” added DE Gumiran.
