The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the widening of a section of Marikina-Infanta Road in Barangay Sampaloc, Tanay, Rizal from four (4) to six (6) lanes.
In a report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Rizal 2nd District Engineer Wilfredo L. Racelis said that the newly completed 1.71-kilometer road widening in Barangay Sampaloc now improves flow of vehicles in the area.
According to District Engineer Racelis, the completion of the road widening projects underscore the government’s effort towards enhancing traffic management, improving public transportation, and strengthening the national road system.
The completed project includes a 3.35-meter road widening with 1.50-meter paved shoulders, and stone masonry-lined canals on both sides, and grouted riprap in some areas to prevent soil erosion.
The road widening project in the amount of P71.8 million was funded under 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
