The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of a flood control structure along the Aringay River Basin encompassing Barangays Ambalite, Duplas, Tavora East, and Tavora Proper in Pugo, La Union.
In his report to DPWH Secretary Manual Bonoan and Undersecretary Eugenio R. Pipo Jr., DPWH Region I Director Ronnel Tan said that the 796-meter-long, 4-meter high flood control structure consists of two (2) sections: Section 1 which covers 396 meters in length, while Section 2 spans 400 meters.
“The flood control structure is intended to address the challenges of intense water flows particularly during tropical storms, providing a steadfast defense from the devastating impact of floods.”
Funded in the amount of P48.6 million under the 2023 General Appropriations Act, the project was implemented by DPWH La Union Second District Engineering Office under the leadership of District Engineer Gil B. Lorenzo.
