The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a local road project ensuring easy access to the sanitary landfill in Sta. Teresita, Cagayan.
In a report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Cagayan First District Engineering Office reported that the completion of a 1.2-kilometer road in Barangay Dungeg marks a significant step towards improving waste management in the municipality of Sta. Teresita.
“The access road is expected to expedite the transportation of waste materials to the landfill while minimizing the environmental impact in the surrounding area,” said DPWH Cagayan First District Engineer Oscar G. Gumiran.
District Engineer Gumiran also added that the newly-constructed two (2)-way road can accommodate large vehicles, ensuring smoother and safer travel for sanitation workers.
“The completion of the project underscores the DPWH commitment to support local communities in their environmental and infrastructure needs,” added DE Gumiran.
The concrete road was funded under the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA) in the amount of P19.7 million.
