The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a local road project that now connects two (2) barangays, previously accessible through rugged terrain in Sta. Teresita, Cagayan.

Based on the report of DPWH Cagayan 1st District Engineer Oscar G. Gumiran to Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, the completion of a 988.66-lineal meter concrete road has improved connectivity between Barangay Alucao and Barangay Bigoc.

“Having two (2) lanes of paved road in this far-flung area means locals now have better access to basic services, and more economic opportunities,” said District Engineer Gumiran.

The road project was implemented in the amount of P19.5 million funded under the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA).

“It will not only facilitate easier travel, but also stimulate trade, agriculture, and tourism opportunities in the area,” added District Engineer Gumiran.
