The Department of Public Works and Highway (DPWH) has completed a multilevel Convention Center project in San Fernando City, La Union.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Region I Director Ronnel Tan said the multiyear construction of the three-storey multi-purpose building with a total floor area of 2000 square meters in Barangay Sevilla was finally completed and was turned over to the local government of San Fernando City.

Constructed with a total cost of P280 million, the Convention Center features a distinctive architectural design inspired by La Union’s iconic surfing destination.

It can accommodate up to 1500 individuals and offer a venue for different events, exhibits, and government programs in the surfing capital.

“The La Union Convention Center is anticipated to not only serve as a hub for various gatherings but also contribute to the region’s economic growth by attracting out-of-town visitors to attend conventions, meetings, seminars, and tradeshows” said Secretary Bonoan.

“This project is a testament to the “Bagong Pilipinas” program by providing state-of-the-art infrastructure for the benefit of the general public” added Secretary Bonoan.

The completion of the project will provide a significant addition to La Union’s socio-cultural facilities.
