The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is set to implement the superstructure for the ongoing Caaninaplahan-Pantoc Bulac Bridge — a 163.07-meter bridge project across Talavera River in Talavera, Nueva Ecija.

In his update to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH-Regional Office 3 Director Roseller A. Tolentino reported that the second phase of the bridge was completed ahead of schedule, and DPWH will commence works for its third phase which has received an allocation of P50 million from the 2024 GAA.

“DPWH is undertaking the construction of this bridge to help travelers between Barangay Caaninaplahan to Barangay Pantoc-Bulac and vice versa, who at present have to pass ten (10) barangays for about one (1) hour” said Director Tolentino.

OIC-District Engineer Osias A. Santos also reported that with a bridge connecting barangays, local residents won’t have to endure crossing the river just to save time and fuel during the summer season or whenever the water level of the river is low.

Started in 2022, the first phase of the project has received an initial allocation of P47.84 million and P94.57 million for the second phase in 2023.

Furthermore, the last two (2) phases of the Caaninaplahan-Pantoc Bulac Bridge project will cover the completion of the bridge superstructure including the construction of concrete slab deck, sidewalks, concrete railings, and unseating prevention devices.
