The 6.23-kilometer bypass road project that will boost connectivity between the towns of Sta. Ana and Arayat in Pampanga is now on its final stage of construction.
Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office 3 Director Roseller A. Tolentino reported in his progress update of the Sta. Ana-Arayat Bypass Road Project to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan and Undersecretary for Regional Operations in Central Luzon Roberto R. Bernardo that the two (2)-lane alternate road from Arayat-San Agustin-Sta. Ana Road to Jose Abad Santos Avenue (JASA) is now 70 percent completed.
The P235-million multi-year project was started in 2021 under the implementation of DPWH Pampanga First District Engineering Office (DEO) and since then have already completed the opening and concrete paving works along the bypass road.
Also constructed and provided were stone masonry slope protections, sheet piling works, and wheel guards in specific locations to promote efficient and safe transportation for road users.
Farmers, fish-pen owners, and locals are already benefitting from the open and passable road sections of the Sta. Ana-Arayat Bypass Road.
“An additional allocation of P30 million from the 2023 national budget has been released to the implementing office to finalize this vital road infrastructure,” said Director Tolentino.
When fully completed, the Sta. Ana-Arayat Bypass Road will enable motorists to cut through the traffic-laden portions of JASA in Sta. Ana’s town proper, leading to faster travel to the nearest entry and exit point of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) in the City of San Fernando.
