Two (2) infrastructure projects implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) now provide ease and safety for the residents of Barangays Gusa and Bulua in Cagayan de Oro City.
Pedestrians and motorists now benefit from the 64 solar street lights installed by DPWH Cagayan De Oro 2nd District Engineering Office along the Bigaan Bridge portion of Butuan-Cagayan de Oro-Iligan Road in Barangay Gusa.
The P12.1-million project consisted of 33 single arm posts divided in both sides of the road and 31 double arm posts situated at the center island, greatly increasing visibility and safety in the area, particularly at night.
Meanwhile, DPWH Cagayan de Oro 1st District Engineering Office completed a P4.9-million, two-storey interment facility at Barangay Bulua which now offers locals a free, intimate venue for holding wake and funeral services to celebrate the life of their departed loved ones.
The building comes with two (2) multipurpose halls, two (2) pantries, two (2) comfort rooms, two (2) utility rooms, a storage space, and an electrical/maintenance room.
DPWH Region 10 Director Zenaida T. Tan stated on her report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan that these projects, programmed under the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA), were carried out to improve the welfare and security of residents in both barangays.
