The upgrading of two (2) sections of Dipolog – Sindangan – Liloy Road completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has improved accessibility in the municipality of Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte.
DPWH Region 9 Director Cayamombao D. Dia identified the completed sections which involve the reconstruction of a 4.4-kilometer portion in Barangay Manawan and the concrete paving of a 1.5-kilometer portion in Barangay Motibot.
“Better road conditions along these sections of the major highway now ensure a safer and faster travel for motorists going to far-flung areas of Sindangan,” said Director Dia.
“Residents of the said barangays also benefit from eased access to basic services, markets, and other commercial establishments, which will stimulate local economic growth,” added Director Dia.
Scope of works on the completed projects include portland cement concrete pavement, stone masonry, pipe culverts, and grouted riprap, with thermoplastic pavement markings as a safety feature.
The road rehabilitation and concreting projects were undertaken by DPWH Zamboanga del Norte 2nd District Engineering Office in the amount of P49 million and P29.4 million, respectively.
