The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of a revetment structure that now prevents flooding in a riverside community of Mogpog, Marinduque Province.
In a report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Marinduque District Engineer Richard Emmanuel P. Ragragio identified the completed project in the municipality of Mogpog as the 366-meter flood-control structure along Mogpog River in Barangay Sumangga.
“The revetment structure built along the critical section of Mogpog River would direct the waterflow towards the sea, instead of overflowing and flooding the low-lying barangay during rainy season,” said District Engineer Ragragio.
In addition, District Engineer Ragragio reported to Secretary Bonoan the completion of a farm-to-market road which serves the residents of Barangay Bangbang, Gasan town.
The DPWH Marinduque DEO implemented the project costing P11.94 million which involved the construction of a 765-meter, 2-lane concrete road, complete with shoulder, catch basin, and drainage components, allowing better mobility for the residents, especially farmers in the area.
