A 130-linear meter seawall project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) not only protect against flooding but also eases the transportation of marine products as functional roadway in Barangay Lanot, Mercedes, Camarines Norte.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Regional Office V Director Virgilio C. Eduarte said that the completion of the coastal infrastructure project includes the construction of rubble concrete and stone masonry with steel bars to ensure its stability and resilience.

The seawall project aims to prevent the risk of flooding, preserve the coast’s natural beauty, and boost the community’s economic growth.

“The integration of the access road along the seawall allows safer travel and alleviates the delays in the transport of products, especially of seafood sourced from fisherfolks in the area,” added Regional Director Eduarte.

Funded under the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA), the completion of the P48.2-million seawall project in addition to its protective and functional aspects enhanced accessibility, facilitates economic growth, and improve the quality of life of residents in Barangay Lanot.
