The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is expediting works to complete the ongoing construction of the Carmona-Biñan Diversion Road Project to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity in Carmona and Biñan in Laguna.

DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, citing a report from DPWH Region IV-A Director Jovel G. Mendoza, said that the Biñan section of the diversion road project is now 80 percent and is targeted to be completed in May 2024.

The project involves the opening and concreting of over 2.3 kilometers of road, widening of existing roads, implementation of drainage and slope protection structures, and construction of a 30-meter bridge.

“The diversion road will link Governor’s Drive to the Mamplasan Rotunda, providing a crucial alternate route for commuters and motorists who are currently using the Carmona-Timbao Road which serves as the only public road network connecting the two cities at present,” said Secretary Bonoan.

The Biñan section of the multi-year Carmona-Biñan Diversion Road Project is being implemented by the DPWH Regional Office IV-A in the amount of P86.8 million, funded under the 2024 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
