The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed three (3) infrastructure projects with combined cost of ₱193.38 million in the town of Conner, Apayao Province.
In his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan and Undersecretary Eugenio R. Pipo Jr., DPWH Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) Director Khaddaffy D. Tanggol said that one (1) of the completed projects in Conner is a segment of an ongoing east-west lateral route connecting the northern regions of Cordilleras, Ilocos and Cagayan, dubbed Abra-Kalinga-Apayao Road (Buluan-Banban-Puguin-Sacpil-Pinukpuk).
Implemented by the DPWH Apayao First District Engineering Office under the leadership of District Engineer Januario S. Garde, the completed road project costing ₱96.50 million involved the construction of a 2-lane concrete road, with drainage, slope protection structures, curb, and gutter stretching 2.66 kilometers.
The DPWH Apayao First DEO also implemented the ₱72.38 milllion Ili-Guinamgaman-Rizal Section of Apayao-Cagayan Road in Barangay Guinamgaman which covers the construction of 1.6 kilometer 2-lane road, with drainage and slope protection structures, curb and gutter, as well as 1-meter wide sidewalk on both sides.
Meanwhile, a ₱24 million Barren River flood control project was completed along the 250-meter downstream of Chico River Basin which now protects the low-lying Barangay of Paddaoan.
“The completion of these new road and flood control projects contribute not only to the safety and connectivity of far-flung areas, but also economic prosperity, as these public infrastructure facilities aid in promoting the investment potential of the area,” said Director Tanggol.
