A farm-to-market road (FMR) project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has facilitated access to the agricultural community of Barangay Caganganan in Banaybanay, Davao Oriental.

DPWH Regional Office 11 Director Juby B. Cordon, in a report to Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan and Undersecretary for Mindanao Operations Eugenio R. Pipo, Jr., said that the completed project is a two (2)-lane road measuring 830 meters long and 6.10 meters wide, with inclusion of a 240-meter concrete line canal along strategic section of the road for rainwater drainage to extend the lifespan of its carriageway.

According to Director Cordon, the Barangay Caganganan FMR was implemented by the Davao Oriental Second District Engineering Office (DEO).

A total of P14.63 million funded through the convergence program of the DPWH and the Department of Agriculture (DA) was allocated to complete the road concreting project, added Director Cordon.

The Barangay Caganganan FMR links residential areas and large rice fields to existing local roads leading to the nearest national highway – the Surigao-Davao Coastal Road also known as Pres. Diosdado P. Macapagal National Highway.

With the new road, locals are now experiencing faster mobility and efficient delivery of agricultural products to trading centers in the Banaybanay town, increasing economic activities of the municipality and the whole province of Davao Oriental.
