Widened Bridge Improves Connectivity in Brooke’s Point, Palawan

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently completed the widening and improvement of Amas Bridge along Puerto Princesa South Road, Brooke’s Point, Palawan, enhancing connectivity, and road safety for all residents, commuters, and travelers in the area.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Regional Office IV-B Director Gerald A. Pacanan mentioned that the widened bridge now facilitates the growing vehicular traffic, promoting smoother and faster travel time in Brooke’s Point, Palawan to its neighboring towns and municipalities.

The completed project involved the construction of the two (2) lane bridges, each measuring 7.70 meters wide and 25.60 meters long. It adds four (4) additional lanes or two (2) lanes on both sides of the bridge that has an existing two (2) number of lanes.

Implemented by the DPWH Palawan Second District Engineering Office, the project also covers comprehensive safety features including slope protection, guardrails, and road studs adjacent to the existing bridge. The bridge is also installed with solar LED street lights enriching the durability, resiliency, and sustainability of the completed bridge widening project in Puerto Princesa South Road benefiting commuters and travelers, especially during night time.

“The completion of the road widening project is instrumental to the realization of advancing the transportation infrastructure landmarks, fostering the socio-economic developments in Brooke’s Point,” said Director Pacanan.

Costing P55.6 Million, the newly expanded bridge in Brooke’s Point, Palawan is funded under the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2023.
