The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has recently completed the concrete paving and improvement of an existing access road connecting the towns of Sikatuna and Balilihan in Bohol.
“With a total net length of 3.5-kilometer, the project includes portland cement concrete pavement provided with box culvert that serves as a drainage to prevent flooding during heavy rainfall in the area”, said DPWH Region VII Director Ernesto S. Gregorio Jr. in his update to Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan.
Moreover, the access road project includes the installation of street lights to improve night-time visibility and provide a safer route for motorists traversing the Sikatuna-Balilihan Road.
Implemented by Bohol 1st District Engineering Office headed by District Engineer John Paul T. Gascon, the concrete road project now provides an accessible and convenient roadway for the transportation of goods and basic services heading to other municipalities and tourist destinations within the province of Bohol.
The concreting of the 2-lane access road was funded with a total amount of P78.95-million under the 2022 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
