The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is currently constructing a hospital building with four (4) floors and a roof deck to boost healthcare services in the Municipality of Bacolor in Pampanga.

The ongoing multi-purpose building (MPB) construction is aimed at expanding the existing infrastructure facilities of the Ricardo P. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital (RPRMH) to provide accessible, affordable, and efficient medical care to residents of Bacolor and those coming from neighboring towns.

DPWH Regional Office 3 Director Roseller A. Tolentino, in a progress report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan and Undersecretary for Central Luzon Operations Roberto R. Bernardo, said that the DPWH Pampanga First District Engineering Office (DEO) is overseeing the construction works for the new RPRMH building with 65 percent accomplishment rate as of April 2024.

According to Director Tolentino, the new MPB with a total floor area of 6,300 meters is located adjacent the old one (1)-storey RPRMH Main Building in Barangay Cabambangan.

Designs for the MPB include multi-level ramps for efficient patient transfers as well as essential amenities for safety and convenience such as fire alarm and sprinkler system; ventilation system; power supply; sewerage treatment plant; medical gas/oxygen provision; and, an elevator machine.

Targeted for completion by September 2024, the new MPB is expected to provide RPRMH an additional 120 bed-capacity, ensuring the hospital’s capability to deliver full-range of medical services to its patients.

Funded under the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA) under the Sustainable Infrastructure Projects Alleviating Gaps (SIPAG) Program, P91.58 million was allocated to implement the construction of the new RPRMH building.
