
Three (3) infrastructure projects completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways now benefit the towns of Malasiqui, Calasiao and San Carlos City, Pangasinan with better mobility and disaster protection.
In an update to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, Region 1 Director Ronnel M. Tan said that in Barangay Pacuan, Malasiqui, the completion of the flood mitigation structure now prevents soil erosion and flooding, perennial issue faced by the community brought about by excessive rains and inclement weather.
The construction of the 133.70-meter slope protection project includes concrete revetment with steel sheet file foundation to ensure the resiliency of the structure.
On the other hand, the completed preventive maintenance and widening of the narrow access road in Barangay San Vicente in Calasiao eases delays in the transportation of goods and services and facilitates smoother traffic flow.
The construction of the 771.40-meter access road includes lateral and reinforced concrete pipe culvert also facilitates the efficient connectivity and accessibility for the pilgrims and devotees in Senior Divino Tesoro Shrine.
Funded under the General Appropriations Act of 2023 (GAA), the P14-million flood control structure in Barangay Pacuan in Malasiqui and the P29-million road widening project in Barangay San Vicente in Calasiao upgrades the socio-economic development of Region 1.
Meanwhile, the completion of the P9.9-million 703-meter asphalt overlaying project implemented under 2024 GAA at the 4-lane Villasis-Malasiqui-San Carlos Road now benefits the residents of Barangay Taloy, Malasiqui and Barangay Coliling, San Carlos City, Pangasinan.
“Implemented by DPWH Pangasinan 4th District Engineering Office The completion of the infrastructure projects will ensure the protection of communities from adverse effects of torrential rains and will boost the local economy through improved mobility and accessibility,” added Regional Director Tan.
