The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has recently completed the concreting of a farm-to-market road (FMR) that is now augmenting local agriculture in Barangay Dulangan, one of the remote areas in Magdiwang, Romblon.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Regional Office IV-B Director Gerald A. Pacanan mentioned that the completion of a two (2)-lane 393-meter FMR project in Barangay Dulangan contributed significantly to facilitating smoother transportation of local products such as coconuts, vegetables, and root crops to the major markets in the town proper.

“Farming is the main source of livelihood in the community, hence, through this paved FMR, farmers and local entrepreneurs in the remote areas of Magdiwang will experience smoother, convenient, and cost-efficient delivery of their farm produce to the neighboring towns and municipalities,” added Director Pacanan.

Implemented by the DPWH Romblon District Engineering Office, the scope of works of the FMR Project includes the construction of a Portland cement concrete pavement road on aggregate sub-base course with polymer-based chemical soil additive and the installation of pipe culvert and sections of grouted riprap and stone masonry.

Costing P11.9 Million, the farm-to-market road in Barangay Dulangan is funded through the 2023 DPWH Infrastructure Program.
