The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has recently constructed a protective structure along a tributary creek of Colo River in Bataan ensuring safety of nearby communities against flooding come rainy season.
DPWH Regional Office 3 Director Roseller A. Tolentino reported to Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan and Undersecretary for Central Luzon Operations Roberto R. Bernardo the completion of a flood control structure measuring 395 meters in Barangay Colo, Dinalupihan town.
Implemented by the DPWH Bataan Sub-District Engineering Office (DEO), the reinforced concrete flood mitigating structure on both sides of Barangay Colo Creek was built according to standards, filled and laid out with rebars.
Clearing operations to remove silt and debris as well as correction of grade and elevation of creek bed was also conducted as part of the project to allow unobstructed water flow leading to Colo River.
Residential areas and agricultural lands near the creek are expected to benefit from the new protective structure completed in the amount of P47.23 million sourced from the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
