A farm-to-market road (FMR) project implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has facilitated accessibility and connectivity in Davao City’s Paquibato District.

DPWH Regional Office 11 Director Juby B. Cordon, in a report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan and Undersecretary for Mindanao Operations Eugenio R. Pipo Jr., said that the paving of the FMR ensures better linkage of Barangay Colasas to the rest of Davao City.

According to Director Cordon, the two (2)-lane Barangay Colasas FMR is 500-meter long, 5.2-meter wide, portland cement concrete pavement road with gravel shoulder measuring two (2) meters on both sides that benefits residents and farmers.

With the newly-completed FMR, locals of Barangay Colasas, which is one of the 13 communities in the agricultural district of Paquibato, can now access Davao City center more conveniently to avail social services and transport their farm products such as rice, corn, and various vegetables.

“The paving of the FMR in Barangay Colasas is a testament to the DPWH’s commitment to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s goal of fostering development even in the most remote areas in the country,” said Director Cordon.

The DPWH Davao City District Engineering Office (DEO) implemented the concreting of the Barangay Colasas FMR in the amount of P11.82 million.
