The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is working on the completion of the Alegria-Bangkito Road Project to facilitate more convenient travel leading to Kabangkalan Coffee Plantation in Barangay Alegria and Barangay Bangkito, Tuburan, Cebu.

DPWH Regional Office 7 Director Ernesto S. Gregorio, Jr., in his update to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, stated that the road project implemented by the Cebu 3rd District Engineering Office is 90 percent completed and targeted to finish this July 2024.

“The unpaved barangay road, located on rugged mountain terrain, becomes muddy and slippery during inclement weather, posing a challenge and danger for motorists,” added Regional Director Gregorio.

The road project includes the construction of an unpaved 2-lane, 2.2-kilometer barangay road and the installation of four (4) stations of reinforced concrete pipe culvert (RCPC) cross drainage, slope protection structure, headwalls, and stone masonry road parapets.

Once completed, the Alegria-Bangkito Road Project is set to provide smoother travel and better access to goods and services for farmers, motorists, businesses, tourists, and residents in the area.

Costing P96.50-million, the road project was funded under the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA), and anticipated to increase economic growth, develop local tourism, and boost agricultural activity in Barangays Alegria and Bangkito in Tuburan, Cebu.
