A newly completed road concreting project by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) now provides convenient and efficient transportation of agricultural products in Barangay Rumbang, Rizal, Occidental Mindoro.

Implemented by the DPWH - Mindoro Occidental Engineering Office, the paved access road is essential in complementing the topography of Barangay Rumbang, surrounded by vast agricultural lands, hence facilitating smoother transport of farm produce to market centers in its neighboring towns and municipalities.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, Regional Office IV-B Director Gerald A. Pacanan mentioned that the completion of this project is pivotal in enhancing the faster delivery of local goods, as well as providing residents better access to essential services in the town of Rizal.

“This 763-meter road concreting project in Barangay Rumbang also minimizes the threat of road hazards and accidents for motorists and pedestrians through the installation of grouted riprap, headwall, and solar streetlights as safety components in ensuring the sustainability and resiliency of the paved road”, added Director Pacanan.

The completed road project is adjacent to the Mindoro West Coastal Road, which further contributes to the robust development of the economic and agricultural activities in the region.

Costing P24.05 Million, the road concreting project is funded under the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
