A bypass road project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) now benefits rural communities in the municipality of Malangas, Zamboanga Sibugay.

DPWH Region 9 Director Cayamombao Dia identified the project as the concrete cement paving of the 2.1-kilometer, two (2)-lane NRJ Guilawa-Palalian-Barangay Poblacion Road which now better connects the residents of Barangay Guilawa to markets, schools, and other essential facilities and services in the municipality.

“The improved road condition spurs socio-economic development in the locality as it ensures a faster, more cost-efficient, and unhampered transport of agricultural goods from farms to markets,” said Director Dia.

Costing P40 million, other construction activities include pipe culvert, grouted riprap, and stone masonry, with installation of metal guardrails and pavement markings as safety features.

The project was undertaken by DPWH Zamboanga Sibugay 1st District Engineering Office.
