A farm-to-market road (FMR) project completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) now facilitates better mobility of people and goods in the municipality of Ajuy, Iloilo.

Based on his report, DPWH Region 6 Director Sanny Boy Oropel said that the completed project involved the concrete cement paving of an 845-meter, two (2)-lane road with shoulder, and stone masonry as slope protection in Barangay Silagon.

The concrete paved FMR now improves travel in the far-flung barangay of Silagon by effectively improving the mobility, enabling hastened delivery of agricultural goods to neighboring barangays and municipalities.

With the barangay located outside the town proper, a primary concern of the locals is having to go back and forth on the unpaved road, putting motorists at risk of untoward incidents while traveling.

“Aside from enhancing accessibility and connectivity in the area, the upgraded road condition also offers a safer and hassle-free travel for locals and tourists visiting various destinations in northern Iloilo,” said Director Oropel.

DPWH Iloilo 3rd District Engineering Office implemented the road concreting project in the amount of P12 million.
