The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is currently working on the completion of a road project to facilitate better access for locals and tourists going to a historical beach destination in the town of Loreto, Province of Dinagat Islands.
DPWH Regional Office 13 Director Pol M. Delos Santos, in his report to DPWH Secetary Manuel M. Bonoan, said that the DPWH Dinagat Islands District Engineering Office is implementing the P100.72 million tourism road project leading to Campintac Black Beach No. 2 which is the first landing site of the American Forces in 1944 during World War II.
The landing site has a memorial marker and a mini museum, and contrary to its name, is also known for its white sand and pristine water.
According to DPWH Dinagat Island District Engineer Noel C. Basañes, the road project leading to the landing site is substantially completed at 94.78 percent.
The project covers the construction and improvement of a 2-lane road with shoulder stretching 1.77 kilometer from Barangay Cambinliw to Barangay Esperanza.
