
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed its off-carriageway improvement project aimed to address road safety concerns along a portion of Daang Maharlika in Barangay Banlag, Monkayo, Davao de Oro.
DPWH Regional Office 11 Director Juby B. Cordon, in a report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan said the DPWH Davao de Oro 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO) carried out the project which involved the installation of solar-powered street lights with double arm steel post at the center island of stretch of the 6.03-kilometer stretch of the highway.
As added road safety features, the project also covered the installation of additional warning and regulatory signs, hazard markers, delineators, tubular markers, pavement stud markers, and installation of reflectorized traffic paint pavement markings and thermoplastic pavement markings.
“The increased road visibility due to the newly-installed street lights reduces risks of accidents and improves overall efficiency of our roadwas, benefiting road users during night time and adverse weather conditions,” said Director Cordon.
The off-carriageway improvement in Monkayo, Davao de Oro was completed by the DPWH Davao de Oro 2nd DEO in May 2024 in the amount of P77.20 million.
