Two (2) local road sections were recently paved to provide better access for the rural communities in Mati City and in the town of Lupon, Davao Oriental Province.
In a report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Regional Office 11 Director Juby B. Cordon identified one (1) of the turned-over projects as the concrete paved 2-lane road in Barangay Tamisan in Mati City which is now being utilized by locals in the area, mostly coconut, banana, and mango tree farmers.
The completed road stretching 640 meters with lined canal and connects the junction Dahican-Lawigan road to Barangay Bobon.
The DPWH also constructed another 2-lane farm-to-market road to aid the agriculture-rich barangay of Bagumbayan, Lupon. The project involves the construction of 800-meter road with a width of 6.10 meters for a two-way traffic, and connects to an existing road going to Barangay Bagumbayan.
“These new roads provide huge impact in the rural communities, which extends from facilitating farmers’ gateway to local markets, to giving them easier and cheaper access to healthcare, education, and other livelihood opportunities,” said Director Cordon.
The completed road projects in Mati City and Lupon with combined cost of P34.12 million were implemented by the DPWH Davao Oriental 2nd District Engineering Office under the leadership of District Engineer Jane D. Cainghog.
