A newly-built access road by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) now benefits farming communities in the municipality of San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur.
DPWH Region 9 Director Cayamombao Dia said in her report that the project involves the construction of a 3.7-kilometer, two (2)-lane portland cement concrete pavement road to enhance accessibility to essential services and establishments, as well as neighboring communities.
Located in Barangay Laperian, the road project now reduces travel time by 15 to 20 minutes, allowing local coconut farmers to quickly and safely transport their products to nearby markets with ease.
Costing P40 million, other works on the project include a 48-inch diameter reinforced concrete pipe culvert, stone masonry, with painting of thermoplastic pavement markings as safety features.
The access road project was implemented by DPWH Zamboanga del Sur 2nd District Engineering Office.
