The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is now implementing the Phase 2 of an ongoing building project that will serve as the emergency complex of the National Center for Mental Health (NCMH) in Mandaluyong City.
In a report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH National Capital Region Director Loreta M. Malaluan said that the Phase 2 of the 2-storey building project includes finishing works and site development activities.
The Phase 1 of the NCMH Emergency Complex which covers the construction of sub-structure and superstructure was completed in February 2024, funded in the amount of P50 million in the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA), while its phase 2 civil works costing P25 million in the 2024 GAA, implemented by the DPWH Metro Manila 1st District Engineering Office, is now at 25 percent and targeted to be completed and turned over by the first quarter of 2025.
When completed, the emergency building complex including its roof deck will have a total floor area of 10,798.59 square meters. It will have fully air-conditioned rooms and well-ventilated areas with fire protection system.
“The new emergency complex at the NCMH will address the urgent needs of individuals experiencing severe mental health crises, by providing a dedicated complex for safe, comprehensive, and immediate medical and physiological care for individuals with mental health conditions,” said Director Malaluan.
