The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is nearing completion of the rehabilitation and improvement of the Mt. Province-Ilocos Sur via Kayan Road in Barangay Kayan, Tadian, Mountain Province, aimed at enhancing mobility and connectivity for the Cordillera communities.
The ongoing road reblocking and asphalt overlay project which aims to boost accessibility and ease travel is 74 percent completed to date.
In his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, Regional Director Khadaffy D. Tanggol noted that the improvements are designed to withstand extreme weather conditions, ensuring the roads remain operational year-round.
"This road project, which also includes application of thermoplastic pavement markings and installation of road studs, is essential in ensuring that our road networks remain safe and accessible, especially in mountainous areas like Tadian where landslides and erosion have previously disrupted travel and commerce," said Regional Director Tanggol.
The road rehabilitation and improvement in Tadian town costing P144.70-million was funded under the 2024 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
