The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has finished paving an access road leading to far-flung communities in the municipality of Ilog, Negros Occidental.

Completed in Barangay Balicotoc is a 1.8-kilometer, two (2)-lane portland cement concrete pavement road with grouted riprap for slope protection and 610-millimeter reinforced concrete pile culvert for cross drainage.

According to DPWH Region 6 Director Sanny Boy Oropel, the project now improves access of Purok Taysikan residents to healthcare, education, and other basic government services.

Traversed communities are grateful for the project as they no longer have to suffer from the muddy-when-wet, dusty-when-dry unpaved road.

“The improved road condition now allows farmers to deliver their agricultural products even to distant markets at a shorter time with less hauling expenses, boosting productivity of trade and commerce in the area,” said Director Oropel.

DPWH Negros Occidental 3rd District Engineering Office implemented the road concreting project in the amount of P23.87 million.
