The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has recently upgraded existing gravel roads to concrete cement pavements, enhancing trading and commerce and subsequently augmenting economic growth in the municipalities of Baco and Victoria, Oriental Mindoro.
In Barangay Tabontabon, a 501.50-lineal meter road concreting project with shoulders on both sides was completed in the amount of P4.94 Million, providing an all-weather road for vehicular traffic.
Based on the report to Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Regional Office IV-B Director Gerald A. Pacanan said that the newly paved road is a vital transportation infrastructure in Baco, fostering safer and more convenient road access for the residents while accelerating delivery of local products to the market centers of its neighboring towns and municipalities.
Simultaneously, a 253.81-meter roadway constructed in Barangay Poblacion II, Victoria amounting to P4.95 Million now serves as an essential transportation link to its adjacent communities, substantially boosting business operations and access to essential services.
The newly paved road also involves the construction of slope protection on both sides and the installation of a reinforced concrete pipe culvert.
“The completion of these road concreting projects by the DPWH Mindoro Oriental District Engineering Office is anticipated to open more economic opportunities and developments, promoting a better quality of life in remote areas of Oriental Mindoro,” said Director Pacanan.
