The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is set to complete a flood control structure that will protect Barangay Buli, La Paz, Abra.
Costing P137.52-Million, the 544 lined Bagatoy Flood Control Project implemented by DPWH Abra District Engineering Office (DEO) is now 84 percent completed.
Based on the report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan by DPWH CAR Director Khadaffy D. Tanggol, the ongoing revetment flood control with sheet piles will reduce the impact of flooding during the rainy seasons.
"This flood mitigation project will prevent the river from overflowing into residential areas, safeguarding the community from potential flooding,” said Director Tanggol.
“The completion of the Bagatoy Flood Control Project will also open up new opportunities for agriculture and development, particularly since the surrounding area is used for farming,” added Director Tanggol.
