A P48.59-million road improvement project was recently completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to provide a safer and smoother access to the tourist destinations in Albay Province.
DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, citing a report from DPWH Regional Office 5 Director Virgilio C. Eduarte, said that the recent construction and upgrading works along Camalig Tourism Circuit was implemented under Tourism Road Infrastructure Program (TRIP) in convergence with the Department of Tourism.
The completed road project covered the 1.7-lane kilometer concrete cement paving of the road which leads to various tourism destinations including Sumlang Lake, Quitinday Hills, Quituinan Japanese Tunnel, as well as Hoyop-hoyopan Cave sites.
The project also included drainage structures to ensure a flood-free road during rainy and typhoon season.
The DPWH Albay 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO) carried out the civil works along Camalig Tourism Circuit from April to December 2023.
