The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a Farm-to-Market Road (FMR) project, which will improve accessibility and boost agricultural productivity in Barangay Wangal, Kasibu, Nueva Vizcaya.
DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, citing a report from DPWH Region II Director Reynaldo C. Alconcel, said that the FMR project, funded under the 2024 General Appropriations Act (GAA) with a contract amount of P14.9 million, ensures that rural areas like Barangay Wangal have the necessary paved road to support agricultural development.
The FMR features a 2.356-lane-kilometer stretch with a width of 3.05 meters and a thickness of 0.20 meters using Portland cement concrete pavement. It also includes the construction of a 109.80 cubic meter stone masonry catchwall to ensure the road's stability and durability and protect it from potential erosion and water runoff.
The newly paved road is expected to reduce travel time, minimize transport costs, and ultimately contribute to the economic growth of Barangay Wangal and the entire Municipality of Kasibu.
“With the completion of the FMR project, local farmers of Barangay Wangal can look forward to a safer and more reliable means of transporting their agricultural products to local markets, making it easier for them to reach larger markets and improve their income,” added Director Alconcel.
The newly concreted FMR in Barangay Wangal, Kasibu, Nueva Vizcaya, was implemented by the DPWH Nueva Vizcaya 2nd District Engineering Office.
