The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is close to finishing the asphalting of the four (4)-lane Bogo-Polambato Wharf Road in Bogo City, Cebu.

DPWH Cebu City 4th District Engineer Elvis G. Calunod in his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan and DPWH Region 7 OIC-Director Danilo J. Villa Jr. said that the ongoing road maintenance project, costing P48.95 million, is expected to reduce the risk of accidents, promote safer and smoother traffic flow, and provide a more efficient transportation network in the vicinity.

This upgrade, now substantially finished, aims to provide a smoother and more durable road surface, enhancing travel and access to the city’s wharf area.

The project covers the asphalt overlay along the deteriorated section, laying reflectorized pavement markings for improved visibility and traffic guidance, and installation of solar LED lights for enhanced illumination during nighttime to address the safety concerns of the motorists and pedestrians.

Moreover, the comprehensive road improvements undertaken, will address the road safety issues in the past due to the damaged existing asphalt surface, inadequate road markings, and absence of street lighting along Bogo-Polambato Wharf Road.

Strict quality assurance and adherence to safety and environmental protocols were considered during the project implementation to ensure the overall quality of the road project.
