The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently completed the construction of a revetment wall in Barangay Maragatas, Municipality of Lupon, Davao Oriental that ensures heightened protection to farmland communities, further stimulating livelihood activities in the area.
In a report to Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Regional Office XI Director Juby B. Cordon said that the completion of the project aims to augment agricultural production, particularly bananas and coconut trees, which are the farmers' primary source of income in Sitio Logdeck.
Implemented by DPWH Davao Oriental 2nd District Engineering Office, the project involves the construction of a 500-meter concrete revetment wall featuring advanced structural components fortifying the resiliency of the structure against perennial flooding.
“The protection structure in Sitio Logdeck, Barangay Maragatas is an essential measure that will not only protect communities against the impact of flooding, thus boosting the livelihood activities for residents and farmers in the municipality of Lupon,” added Director Cordon.
Costing P71.2 Million, the protection structure was funded under the Regular Infrastructure Program FY 2024.
