The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has implemented preventive road maintenance measures to improve movement of goods and services for motorists in the municipality of Alicia, Zamboanga Sibugay.
In her report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan and Undersecretary for Mindanao Operations Eugenio R. Pipo, Jr., DPWH Region 9 Director Cayamombao Dia said that the project involved the asphalt overlay of a 2.9-lane kilometer road portion along Barangay La Victoria.
Designed as a preventive maintenance strategy, the two (2)-lane road project restores and extends the lifespan of the underlying concrete road, ensuring long-term durability and safety.
“With improved road surface, the asphalt road is expected to provide a safer and more enhanced transportation access to basic goods and services as well as other public and private establishments in the area,” added Director Dia.
Other works on the project include 6.70-meter carriageway, bituminous concrete surface wearing course with painting of reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings to ensure visibility at night.
The project was implemented by Zamboanga Sibugay 1st District Engineering Office in the amount of P60 million.
