The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of two (2) additional carriageways on both sides of the existing 4.38 kilometer portion of Digos-Makar Road in the Municipality of Malungon, Sarangani Province.

Costing ₱142 million, the road widening project involves the construction of 3.80-meter wide portland concrete cement pavement on each side of the existing lanes, a bridge, drainage, and slope protection structures on vulnerable sections of the highway.

Based on a report submitted by DPWH Regional XII Director Basir M. Ibrahim, Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan said that the project was implemented to provide a reliable road network that caters higher volumes of vehicle, resulting to lower delivery costs of agricultural products, as well as improved mobility of both people and services.

With the locals in Malungon, Sarangani relying mostly on farming as their main source of income, the project supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s Build Better More Program which aims to expand livelihood and employment opportunities while addressing economic challenges in rural areas.

Implemented by DPWH Regional Office 12, the project was completed in April 2025, with funding sourced from the 2024 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
