More School Buildings This School Year for SOCCSKSARGEN

A total of 348 school buildings under Department of Education’s Basic Education Facilities Fund (BEFF) are now ready for the opening of classes in June, according to a report from DPWH Regional Office XII - Director Reynaldo S. Tamayo during the Project Status Implementation Meeting last May 16, 2016.

Under BEFF, 631 school building projects comprising of 2,510 classrooms with an aggregate cost of P 3,169,109.90 are programmed under the eight District Engineering Offices of DPWH XII.

Of the total school buildings constructed, 165 are constructed for the additional building requirements of DepEd’s K-12 program.

DPWH XII has also completed 12 workshop buildings where facilities of technical and vocational courses for senior high schools will be housed.

Department of Education has expressed gratitude to DPWH through “Handog Pasasalamat” program. DepEd Secretary Armin D. Luistro thanked DPWH for their commitment to the School building Program.

RD Tamayo cited that despite of the challenges in project implementation, such as delivery of materials and deployment of equipment to far-flung and critical areas – shortage of classrooms in SOCCKSARGEN will be addressed correspondingly in accordance with the DPWH’s commitment to DepEd.
