Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office I bagged the Best Performing Region Award for its overall outstanding accomplishment for the first semester 2017.
Secretary Mark A. Villar handed the plaque of award to Regional Director Ronnel M. Tan during the Unified Regional Directors’ Meeting held last July 14, 2017 at the Grand Xing Imperial Hotel in Iloilo City.
Apart from the major award, the Regional Office also received the Best in Physical Accomplishment award for having the smallest slippage and the Best in Financial Performance (Obligation) award for having the highest absorptive capacity.
The criteria for the Best in Physical Accomplishment award was based on the Project and Contract Management Application (PCMA) that the Department has implemented during the first quarter of 2016 to monitor all civil works including contracts and projects by administration, while the Best in Financial Performance (Obligation) award was based in the obligation versus allotment.
These awards are manifestations that the regional office had implemented projects for the first semester in accordance with procurement rules and regulations, approved plans and specifications and in all financial rules and regulations.
Meanwhile, Regional Office IV-A received the Best in Financial Performance (Disbursement) award for attaining the highest disbursement rate and the Regional Office XIII got the Best in Procurement Variances.
