DPWH undertakes repair of 7 roads in QC and Caloocan this weekend

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will resume its road reblocking and repairs in Quezon and Caloocan City this weekend.

According to DPWH National Capital Region Director Melvin B. Navarro, the repair and rehabilitation in six (6) major roads in Quezon City and one (1) in Caloocan City covering an area of 1,716.35 square meters will start 11 PM Friday, February 9, 2018.

Using one (1) day concrete mix, affected roads will fully open 5 AM Monday, February 12, 2018.

DPWH undertakes access audit on implementation of Accessibility Law

To ensure the safety and inclusivity of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in all places, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in partnership with other implementing agencies will conduct anew access audit on both private and public establishments.

In a meeting held at the DPWH Head Office, DPWH and National Council of Disability Affairs (NCDA) discussed the monitoring of adherence to Batas Pambansa 344 (BP344), also known as the Accessibility Law, which concerns the mobility of PWDs.

DPWH: Albay and Sorsogon to have an alternative road soon

An alternative route that can reduce as much as three (3) hours travel time between Manito, Albay and Bacon, Sorsogon is being fast tracked for completion in 2018 by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

DPWH Region 5 Director Danilo E. Versola said the Bacon-Manito Road which will be a 15.3-kilometer, 2-lane road with five (5) bridges traversing mountainous terrain along the east coast of Albay and Sorsogon is being implemented by the regional office with only three (3) ongoing contracts to be completed.

DPWH-2 holds first executive meeting for 2018

Department of Public Works and Highways Region (DPWH) 2 Director Melanio C. Briosos met with District Engineers and Division Chiefs for the first Regional Staff Conference for 2018 held in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

Director Briosos discussed the latest policy directions from Secretary Mark A. Villar, echoed the instruction of the Management Committee to expedite implementation of 2018 infrastructure projects, and tackled pressing topics and instructions on project operations in the region.

Repair works on Bitnong Bridge ongoing

The Department of Public Works and Highways – Nueva Vizcaya Second District Engineering Office (DPWH-NVSDEO) is currently working on the rehabilitation of Bitnong Bridge Nos. 1 and 2 in the province of Dupax del Norte.

According to District Engineer Ronald P. Reyes, the repair of the two bridges involves the provision of carbon fiber reinforcement, epoxy injection as well as protection structures for the foundations.

“This project aims to prolong the life of the bridge and also to enhance structural performance and durability,” DE Reyes said.

29 Rain Water Collector System built in Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya schools

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has installed a total of 29 Rain Water Collector Systems (RWCS) in various schools in the province of Quirino and Nueva Vizcaya.

District Engineer Marifel T. Andes of DPWH Quirino District Engineering Office shared that they have completed a total of 17 RWCS amounting to ₱3,400,000.00 that can benefit elementary and secondary schools in the municipalities of Diffun, Cabarroguis, Saguday, and Aglipay.

Dpwh undergo disaster assessment course

Personnel of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) undergo special training on Post-Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) in an effort to strengthen Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Program.

DPWH Region 1 OIC-Director Ronnel M. Tan said that a total of 30 maintenance engineers and employees from the regional and district engineering offices in Ilocos Region attended the training course by the Office of the Civil Defense held in Bauang, La Union that aims to teach the know-how of assessing post-disaster impacts.
