Construction of Access Road Linking Central Luzon Ecozones Ongoing

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is currently undertaking the construction of an access road that will connect the Subic Bay Freeport Zone (SBFZ) to the Hermosa Ecozone Industrial Park (HEIP) in Bataan, promoting stronger economic activities in Central Luzon.

Citing reports from DPWH Regional Office 3, DPWH Secretary Roger G. Mercado said that the construction of the access road is divided into two (2) stages: the Mabiga–Morong–SBFZ Section for Phase 1 and the Mabigat–Palihan Section for Phase 2.

Nationwide Cases of Truck Overloading Up at 34% in 2021

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Roger G. Mercado recently ordered all DPWH Regional and District Engineering Offices to intensify Anti-Overloading Operations, as a response to the latest Department report on increased cases of truck overloading nationwide.

DPWH Secretary Mercado, citing a report from the DPWH Bureau of Quality and Safety said that the 2021 Nationwide Cases of Truck Overloading was recorded at 34.11 percent out of all the trucks that were weighed, or an increase of 6.96 percent from 2020 at 27.15 percent.

DPWH Widens Road in San Carlos City

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a new road widening project aimed at decongesting traffic condition in San Carlos City, Pangasinan.

Citing a report from DPWH Region 1 Director Ronnel M. Tan, Secretary Roger G. Mercado said that the widening from two (2) lanes to four (4) lanes of the Carmen Junction Bayambang – Manat Road is expected to increase road capacity and accommodate the current traffic volume in the city.
