DPWH Revetment Walls Protect Low-Lying Communities in Aklan

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) constructs two (2) flood control projects to benefit low-lying barangays in the province of Aklan.

In Barangay Guinatuan, Madalag, a 594.34-lineal meter slope protection structure now protects residents and crops from the detrimental effects of excessive flooding.

DPWH Region 6 Director Tiburcio DL Canlas mentioned to Secretary Roger G. Mercado that the project consists of sheet steel pile and reinforced slope crest protection, concrete blocks and hexapod foot protection, implemented in the amount of P77.2 million.

Restored Capitol Building Now an Attraction in Sorsogon

The Department of Public Works and Highways completed the restoration and renovation of the 105-year old Capitol Building in Sorsogon City.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Roger G. Mercado, Regional Office 5 Director Virgilio C. Eduarte said that the renovated Sorsogon Provincial Capitol is a one-stop building that houses all provincial department offices.

With a ₱99-million allocation, the Capitol was restored back to its original neo-classic design.
