DPWH Opens Panabo Flyover in Davao del Norte

Good news to motorists as the flyover built by Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Panabo City, Davao Del Norte has officially opened Thursday, July 16, 2020.

The 195.59-meter Panabo City steel flyover with 304-meter approaches completed by the DPWH Unified Project Management Office - Bridges Management Cluster (DPWH-UPMO BMC) will practically eliminate vehicle congestion by providing continuous traffic flow along the busy intesection of Daang Maharlika National Highway-Tadeco and Panabo Wharf Road.

DPWH Ramps Up Construction of Health Facilities

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is ramping up the construction of offsite dormitories that will keep safe the medical doctors and staff providing care and services to COVID-19 patients.

Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the DPWH Task Force to Facilitate Augmentation of Local and National Healthcare Facilities headed by Undersecretary Emil K. Sadain is already well under way in the completion of temporary staying place for healthcare workers of the Lung Center of the Philippines to ensure that enough medical professionals can safely care for patients.

Groundbreaking of 34M Evacuation Center in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay

A groundbreaking ceremony marked the construction of the P34M Evacuation Center in Barangay Taway, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

The event, held on February 13, 2020, was attended by the Department of Public Works Region IX employees and elected officials of the municipality.
The multipurpose covered court will earmark the preparedness of the community in times of disaster or natural calamity.

This will also lessen the use of school buildings as temporary shelters for disaster-affected families.

ZDN 2nd DEO completes Tourism Road Project leading to Situbo Twin Waterfalls

The Department of Public Works and Highways Zamboanga del Norte 2nd District Engineering Office completed the 525-meter road leading to the beautiful and majestic two-layer cascade Situbo Twin Waterfalls in Tampilisan, Zamboanga del Norte.

The road upgrading project is part of the Tourism Road Infrastructure Program (TRIP), a convergence between the DPWH and Department of Tourism (DOT).

It is expected that by 2020, the multi-year project will be fully implemented resulting in the concreting of 2,030 meters road.

Coordination Meeting with Usec. Sadain, Director Madsmo and RO9 Officials

A Coordination Meeting was conducted by Undersecretary for Unified Project Management Office (UPMO) Operations and Technical Services Emil K. Sadain and Project Director for UPMO Sharif Madsmo H. Hasim with RD Cayamombao D. Dia, ARD Khadaffy D. Tanggol and Regional Office IX Key Officials. In the said meeting, “We Heal as One” Off-Site Dormitory/Isolation Facilities, evacuation centers as quarantine/health facilities, conversion of the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) Building to COVID-19 Testing Laboratory, and other matters were discussed.

P 96.5-M flood control structure underway

Residents living near the river in Barangay Canacan, Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay will no longer worry of water overflow during rainy season days with the construction of a flood control project implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways Regional Office 9.

With the contract amount of P96.5M, the project involves flood control structure with the length of 1.46 lane kilometers. As of to date, the project has an accomplishment of 86.18%.

P1.130B Tourism Road Project

La Paz is considere d as the “Little Baguio” of Zamboanga City because of its cold temperature which could drop down close to 65 degrees Fahrenheit. The barangay is now considered a popular destination because of the famous Nancy Falls and the several resorts located in the area.

P24M slope protection project underway

The Construction of Reinforced Concrete Wall of Slope Protection along Liloy-Siocon Road in Gutalac, Zamboanga del Norte is nearing completion.

With road widening and paved shoulder, the project has a length of 96 meters and expected to be completed by the end of February a month ahead of schedule.

The project will completely eradicate the recurring problem of landslide and road slip in this section specially during rainy season is now 90% completed.

DPWH IX paves 4.8 kms road project to assist farmers in Zamboanga Sibugay

The Zamboanga Sibugay 1st District Engineering Office is completing a P55M road project that is seen to boost coconut and coffee production in Zamboanga Sibugay.

The 4.8 kilometers 2 lane local road project is implemented under the convergence program of the Department of Public Works and Highways and Department of Trade and Industries which aims to improve access roads leading to trades, industries and economic zones.

Travel time of farmers will now be reduced from 15 minutes to 4 minutes. The project has an actual accomplishment of 98.50%.

P30.7M project completed

The Zamboanga del Sur Ist District Engineering Office recently completed the construction of By-Pass and Diversion Road Phase II project in Zamboanga del Sur.

The 1.25 kilometers 2 lane diversion road project with an allocation of P30.7M provide faster transport of goods to the market and improve road safety from motorists that passes through the existing route.

The newly paved road reduced travel time from 56 minutes to 27 minutes from Barangay Camalig of the municipality of Dumalinao to Barangay Bagalupa of the municipality of Labangan.
