DPWH resumes road reblocking in EDSA, A.H. Lacson and Batasan Road

Motorists are advised that the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will undertake road repair activities in Metro Manila, which will be carried out from 11 p.m. Friday, August 24, 2018 until 5 a.m. Monday, August 27, 2018.

With clearance from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), DPWH-NCR will resume reblocking and repair on three (3) sections of Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA); one (1) in A.H. Lacson Avenue; and one (1) in Batasan Road.

Luzon road closures as of noon, Thursday, August 23

Rain may have stopped in most parts of the country but Southwest Monsoon is still affecting the western section of Luzon, resulting to closure of a total of 10 national road sections.

The Department of Public Works and Highways Bureau of Maintenance reported that as of 12:00 noon, Thursday, August 23, 2018, six (6) roads in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) including Kennon Road remain impassable due to recurring debris flow, collapsed road, damaged slope protection, landslide and road slip.

DPWH completes school building projects in Nueva Vizcaya

In support to the government’s education program, the Department of Public Works and Highwyays – Nueva Vizcaya Second District Engineering Office (DPWH-NVSDEO) completed four of its school building projects in Dupax del Norte, Nueva Vizcaya.

The four schools that benefitted with the new educational infrastructure that consists of one-storey, two-classroom school buildings include: Abatan Primary School, Parai Elementary School, Macabenga Elementary School, and Munguia Elementary School.

DPWH, DELP hold 3rd “Balik-Eskwela” program in Region 2

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 2 District Engineering Offices (DEO), along with with the District Engineers’ League of the Philippines (DELP), conducted an outreach programs in the various elementary schools in Cagayan Valley.

The Cagayan Third DEO headed by District Engineer Danilo U. Tabilas gave backpacks and school materials to 120 pupils in Manga Elementary School in Penablanca and Garab Elementary School in Iguig, both in the province of Cagayan.

Kennon Road, 10 other Luzon roads still closed to traffic

Motorists are advised that 11 road sections in Luzon are still impassable to vehicles due to debris flow, collapsed road, damaged slope protection, soil collapse, and flooding brought by monsoon rains.

DPWH Bureau of Maintenance reported that as of 12:00 noon, Friday, August 17, 2018, DPWH personnel and equipment are still deployed to repair and clear affected road sections in Region I, III, and Cordillera Administrative Region.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed a new batch of rainwater collection system to maximize the use of water from rains at 16 schools in Southern Leyte.

District Engineer Ma. Margarita Junia of Southern Leyte District Engineering Office said that an amount of P3.4-million was allocated to build the rainwater collectors in public schools as part of the climate change adaptation strategy to address the problem of water supply shortage.

DPWH starts dredging of Digmala River to mitigate flooding in Nueva Ecija

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has started river desilting or dredging in the town of Bongabon, Nueva Ecija in order to mitigate flooding brought by the overflow of Digmala River during rainy season.

Following instruction from DPWH Region III Director Roseller A. Tolentino, District Engineer Ricardo M. Puno of DPWH Nueva Ecija Second District Engineering Office (DEO) said assistance from DPWH Bureau of Equipment was requested for immediate deployment of equipment and operators since Digmala River is now heavily silted.
