DPWH Transparent But With Protocol Observed

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will be transparent but will have to exercise utmost care against personalities who have exploited the freedom of expression or of the press.

Secretary Mark A. Villar said that as public servants, the officials and employees of DPWH endeavor to act professionally in dealing with the press as key partners in communicating to the people what the government is doing for their benefit.

DPWH Receives NEA “Golden Dagitab” Award

DPWH builds more evacuation centers in Zamboanga

After completing three (3) new evacuation centers, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is now fast tracking the completion of four (4) additional centers in Zamboanga Peninsula to accommodate more residents in times of calamities and disasters.

DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar commended DPWH Region 9 Director Cayamombao Dia for turning over three (3) newly-completed centers amounting to P102-million in the Municipality of Labason and Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte; and in the Municipality of Imelda, Zamboanga Sibugay.

DPWH joins Global Road Safety Leadership Course

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office VI served as one of the partner agencies in the first localized adoption of the Global Road Safety Leadership Course (GRSLC) held at the Damires Hills in Janiuay, Iloilo.

DPWH representative Engr. Ray Adrian Macalalag lectured on identifying and measuring risk factors in road traffic injuries, as well as the role of infrastructure and urban design in road safety.

ROAD PROJECT INSPECTION

DPWH Assistant Secretary Maximo Carvajal inspects the ongoing 2.140-kilometer road concreting project along Linan- Miasong road in Tupi, South Cotabato. Upon completion, the project is expected to boost the agribusiness competitiveness in Barangays Linan and Miasong by providing seamless transport of goods and services.

DPWH completes new evacuation center in Ilocos Sur

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a fifth permanent evacuation center in a network of evacuation center projects in Ilocos Region.

According to DPWH-Region 1 Director Ronnel M. Tan, the P360-million Regional Evacuation Center Project at Barangay Ayusan Sur, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur was built in the 3,171.39-square meters lot donated by the local government unit.

In a country visited yearly by typhoons and other types of calamities, the evacuation center will accommodate displaced families in disaster-risk areas.

DPWH paving road to Negros Occidental’s Binadlan Falls

The road concreting project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Barangay Bi-ao, Municipality of Binalbagan is seen to entice more tourists to visit Binadlan Falls in the Province of Negros Occidental once completed.

According to District Engineer Randolfo A. Melosantos of DPWH Negros Occidental Second District Engineering Office (DEO), the road improvement project of about 3.75-kilometer access road received an initial allocation of P100 million this year under Department of Tourism (DOT)-DPWH Tourism Road Infrastructure Program.
