Damage to Infra Caused by ‘Goring’, Monsoon Rains Estimated at P379.6-M

As of 12:00 noon Friday, September 1, 2023, estimates of damage by the southwest monsoon enhanced by Typhoon “Goring” to national roads, bridges, and flood-control structures has reached P379.58 million.

Citing the latest report from Department of Public Works and Highways-Bureau of Maintenance, DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan said that the partial cost of infrastructure damage comes from P143.28 million damage to roads, P13.44 million to bridges, and P222.85 million to flood control structures in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Regions 1 and 2.

Intermittent Rains Cause Flooding in Metro Manila

Two (2) roads in Metro Manila are currently impassable while seven (7) have limited due to flooding brought by Southwest Monsoon rains enhanced by Typhoon ‘Goring’.

Based on the 12:00 noon, August 31, 2023 report of the Department of Public Works and Highways - Bureau of Maintenance, the following roads are not passable to all types of vehicles due to flooding:

Quezon City (Not Passable)
1) G. Araneta Avenue corner Maria Clara Street
2) Domingo Avenue corner Calamba Street

Intermittent Rains Cause Flooding in Metro Manila

Two (2) roads in Metro Manila are currently impassable while seven (7) have limited due to flooding brought by Southwest Monsoon rains enhanced by Typhoon ‘Goring’.

Based on the 12:00 noon, August 31, 2023 report of the Department of Public Works and Highways - Bureau of Maintenance, the following roads are not passable to all types of vehicles due to flooding:

Quezon City (Not Passable)
1) G. Araneta Avenue corner Maria Clara Street
2) Domingo Avenue corner Calamba Street

Health Facility Project Completed in Tabaco City, Albay

The newly-renovated Dr. Lorenzo P. Ziga Memorial District Hospital in Tabaco City, Albay is now providing better quality healthcare services for the people.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in convergence with the Department of Health - Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) in Region 5 recently completed the improvement works on the district hospital facilities which include the rehabilitated and improved Infectious Disease Ward, the Head Doctor’s Quarter and Dormitory, the Nurses’ and Doctors’ Quarters, and the morgue.

7 Roads Still Closed Due to ‘Goring’

As of 12:00 noon Wednesday, August 30, 2023, seven (7) national road sections remain impassable due to Typhoon ‘Goring’ which caused flooding, landslide, slope collapse, road cut, and damage to bridge in the Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley Region and Western Visayas.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) was able to clear and reopen 11 affected roads but still working on the following closed road sections:
